Dr. S. C. Seal Memorial Oration
The Indian Public Health Association (IPHA), West Bengal State Branch confers the prestigious Dr. S.C. Seal Memorial Oration during its Annual State Conference upon an eminent senior public health professional of the country. The orator is selected by the President, Secretary, and Members of the Executive Committee of the IPHA West Bengal State Branch during a duly convened Executive Body Meeting.
About Dr. S.C. Seal (1903 – 2001)
Dr. Sirish Chandra Seal was an illustrious Indian public health expert, epidemiologist, and bacteriologist whose contributions shaped modern public health practice in India. A Rockefeller Foundation Fellow and recipient of the D.Sc. (Medicine), his career spanned leadership roles at AIIH&PH and the Government of India.
His legacy is defined by visionary leadership in communicable disease research and a century-long dedication to teaching and mentorship in social and preventive medicine.
